MAXIMUM SPEED ORDINANCE FOR RIO GRANDE ROAD

FROM SANDCUT WEST TO TOWNSHIP LINE

5 – 87.1      Purpose

It is the purpose of this ordinance to facilitate the orderly and safe flow of traffic on Rio Grande Road from Sandcut west to Township line.

5 – 87.2      General Provisions     

      Except when a special hazard exists that requires lower speed, the maximum speed limit on that portion of Rio Grande Road from Sandcut west to Township Line shall be forty (40) miles per hour, except in front of the school, which will be twenty (20) miles per hour.

5 – 87.3      Penalties

      Violation of this ordinance is punishable by a fine riot exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) plus Court Casts, at the discretion of the court.

5 – 87.4      Repealer

      All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

5 – 87.5      Severability Clause

      If any section, provision, or part of this Ordinance is adjudged invalid ox unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the Ordinance as a whole, or any section, provision, or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconstitutional.

5 – 87.6      Effective Date

      Passed and adopted by the Vigo County Board of Commissioners this 28th day of November, 1988.
