AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING
A SPECIAL NONREVERTING OPERATING FUND
FOR COUNTY BUILDING AND INSPECTION
DEPARTMENT
2 – 31.1
Purpose
This Ordinance is enacted to establish a special nonreverting operating fund for the purpose of funding two (2) part-time inspector positions in the County Building and Inspection Department and equipment needed for the part-time inspectors to perform their assigned tasks.
2 – 31.2
General Provisions
2 – 31.2-1 There is hereby created a special nonreverting operating fund to be designated the "Building and Inspection Department Fund" to be administered by the Vigo County Council.
2 – 31.2-2 The Building and Inspection Department Fund shall consist of a beginning appropriation from the general fund of Eleven Thousand Dollars ($11,000.00) and fifty percent (50%) of all permit, registration and occupancy fees collected by the County Building and Inspection Department, up to and to maintain an account balance of Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000.00) for each fiscal year at which point all permit fees for the remainder of the fiscal year shall be deposited into the general fund.
2 – 31.2-3 The monies in the Building and Inspection Department Fund may be used only for paying the compensation for two (2) part-time inspector positions anal for purchasing equipment, training and incidental goods and services, including, but not limited to, gasoline needed for the part-time inspectors to perform their duties.
2 – 31.2-4 All monies collected in the Building and Inspection Department Fund shall be subject to appropriation by the Vigo County Council.
2 – 31.2-5 Any monies remaining in the Building and Inspection Department Fund at the end of the year shall not revert to any other fund, but shall remain in the Building and Inspection Department Fund for use as specified in the Ordinance, and shall not require a notice of encumbrance but shall be automatic in accordance with this Ordinance.
2 – 31.2-6 In the event of termination of the Building and Inspection Department Fund, any balance remaining shall be transferred into the general fund.

Effective Date
This Ordinance shall be effective on the last date of adoption.
This Ordinance has been adopted by the Vigo County Board of Commissioners this 22nd day of March, 1999.
